The folklore ensemble “BĂRĂGANUL”, made up of young people, pupils, and students, was founded in 1993, currently being rated by folklore specialists as the most representative ensemble in the county and one of the most valuable in the country.

Due to the quality of the performances and the authenticity of the repertoire, the ensemble won unanimous appreciation at the national and international level: France, Japan, Italy, USA, Greece, Turkey, Bulgaria, Sri Lanka and other countries, making the message of Romanian spirituality to be transmitted through songs and games of great artistic value. “BĂRĂGANUL”, primarily promotes the folklore characteristic of the Călăraşi area, but also the beauty of popular songs, dances and costumes from almost all regions of the country: Muntenia, Oltenia, Dobrogea, Moldova and Transylvania.

The authenticity of the choreographic repertoire is conferred by the fact that the dances, taken from the villages, are staged while preserving the interpretive style specific to the rural environment. The circle is often found in the choreographic drawing – a compositional element characteristic of Romanian folklore and especially of the southern lands.

A special note is the alternation of slow rhythms with very dynamic ones within the same dance, which contributes to the spectacularity of the programs presented by the ensemble. The ensemble has 29 members aged between 11 and 32, and the choreographer of the ensemble is Mr. Lucian Teodorescu.
