BUDAPEST – three independent cities of Buda, Pest, and Óbuda (Old Buda)

The International Folk – Dance Festival “Spring Tale – Budapest” will be held for the 7th time in Budapest, Hungary during the period from 27 till 30 March 2019.

The intention of our invitation is to celebrate life, love, and friendship through dance and music. The Festival light motive is to present the cultural tradition of different countries and regions and to provide an opportunity for the members of groups to get together and create long-lasting friendships.

Located in Hungary, Budapest is one of the most beautiful cities in the world. It is situated right on the bank of River Danube. Not only is this city a perfect spot for a vacation; offering much to the tourists from around the world, but it’s also located in a central position which allows tourists to easily travel to other great places in the country.

With a unique, youthful atmosphere, a world-class classical music scene as well as an exciting nightlife increasingly appreciated among European youth and, last but not least, an exceptionally rich offering of natural thermal baths, Budapest is one of Europe’s most delightful and enjoyable cities. Due to its scenic setting and its architecture, it is nicknamed “Paris of the East”.

General Rules

The International Folk Dance Festival “Spring tale” is a non-competitive festival of traditional and modern dances.
On the festival may participate children and youth folklore dance groups, modern dance groups, instrumental
groups, choirs, as well as groups and performers from other art styles with a minimum of 10 persons on the stage.
The age of participants is not limited.
During the Festival each Group will have 1 performance which will be organized in a concert hall where groups can
perform either with live music or USB. According to the number of participants, the minutes of the performance will
be defined. The performances will be in the evening hours so you can plan the day ahead and use it for visiting the
city attractions or shopping. Every Group will be rewarded with a Certificate for taking part in the Festival.
NOTE: Each group must send us the music for the performance by email, 10 days before the festival starts.
During the free time, on group request the Festival Team can organize several excursions:
– Boat cruise along the Danube
– Sightseeing in the city
Detailed Excursions list will be given to you 1 month before the festival.


The accommodation of the participants will be organized in 3*** Hotel on an HB basis. The groups will be
accommodated in rooms with 3 and 4 beds with their own bathroom. Each Group can have only 2 double rooms
which can be used for the Leaders and Drivers. For any extra double room, the group should pay extra 4
euro/person/day and for a single room additional 17 euro per day.
NOTE: The Groups must send the rooming list by end of February. Groups that do not send, the rooming list will be
made by festival and can’t be any changes upon arrival.

The festival fee is 119 euro per person. It covers organizational expenses, accommodation in 3***
Hotel for 3 nights with 2 meals per day. On every 25 participants, one member (26th) is free of
If the group shows interest in extending the stay the organizers should be informed during the application process
and the price for extra night is 35 euro per person per day.
Participation fee can be paid via bank transfer or in cash on the day of arrival. Advance payment of 30 euro per
person should be made after receiving the official invitation.

Transport and Travel Conditions

The groups should pay the travel expenses by themselves to Budapest and back. The groups coming by bus
should use their own transport all the time during the festival.
The Organizers can organize the transport for the groups coming by plane by picking them up from airport, during
the festival days and back to the same airport. The cost of the transportation will be covered by the group and will
be additionally agreed according to their number.
Parking for buses (during your stay) is paid by the group at the rate set on the parking place (approximately 15
euro per day).
The participant group should arrive in Budapest on 25th of March 2020 and leave on 28th of March 2020 after
having breakfast and leave the rooms till 10:00.


By participating on this festival, you can use the opportunity to connect one or two more festivals organized by
Folklore Festival Association and get special discount:

Connect 3 festivals and 3 concerts in 8 days: 3 nights in Prague on HB basis + 2 nights in Vienna on BB basis
+ 3 nights in Budapest on HB basis.
2. VIENNA (28.03. – 30.03.) – PRAGUE (30.03. – 02.04.) = 166 EUR per person
Connect 2 concerts in 2 different cities during 5 days: 2 nights in Vienna on BB + 3 nights in Prague on HB
3. BUDAPEST (25.03. – 28.03.) – VIENNA (28.03. – 30.03.) = 187 EUR per person
Connect 2 concerts in 2 different cities during 5 days: 3 nights in Budapest on HB + 2 nights in Vienna on BB.
The number of participants is limited. Therefore, we will appreciate if you can send us your application by 31
January 2020. After receiving your application, we will send you the official invitation for participating on the
Festival. We will also assist you in obtaining visa if necessary. Each member must have travel insurance policy.
The organizer reserves the right to any changes in the program, and the participants will be informed on time. The
copy right of all video materials and pictures are ownership of the Organization of the Festival. By applying you
confirm that you accept all festival conditions!
